Mim Tielen, Director of Business Development with Saville Hotel Group.
Having worked in our industry for many years, Mim Tielen has established herself as an ambassador of tourism for Victoria and consequently Australia . Her commitment to her role as Director of Business Development with the Saville Hotel Group is exceptional and she has directly assisted in the successful development and operation of the Saville on Russell, Saville Park Suites Melbourne and Saville City Suites East Melbourne hotels. Mim is an extraordinary mentor and she is renowned for guiding and developing the career path of many aspiring people who have gone on to build and support our strong Victorian tourism family. Mim's enthusiasm and dedication often exceed the expectations of her role and she willingly gives her own time to build relationships with her clients and industry partners to ensure they receive the personalized and genuine service for which Mim has become renowned.
" In this industry, there is negligible difference in products that are positioned similarly in the marketplace. What makes the difference from an operators standpoint, is the people behind the product and the faith that one has that they will not only deliver, however deliver with the utmost of integrity. For this reason, our Company has chosen to do business with Mim for many years and will continue to do so while she remains in the industry."
Andrew Coplestone - General Manager, General Travel Australia
“Destination Melbourne would like to acknowledge Mim as an individual who is always full of energy and is quick to assist Destination Melbourne to work with the industry, trade, media and consumer. Nothing is ever too much to ask and Mim always goes beyond what is asked. She is an asset to the tourism industry and understands the true importance of the tourism industry working in partnership.”
Liz Seamon – Chief Executive Officer, Destination Melbourne
I have worked with Mim Tielen in the hotel industry for in excess of 16 years and during that time have found her to be one of the most committed and dedicated individuals not only the company for whom she works but for the tourism industry as a whole.
Her contacts within the industry are a credit to her and the continual positive feedback I hear from colleagues is impressive. It's an absolute pleasure to have worked with Mim for such a long period of time. She is a definite asset to the Saville team.

Previous HSMA Development Award winners have found winning this Award beneficial to their careers:
“Firstly, I would have to say that when I received the award last year, I was very honoured and I believe that for someone that has just started in the Hospitality Sales and Marketing industry it is a great introduction and insight into the market place.
I found that it was a wonderful way to meet people that are working in and supporting the industry and provides the opportunity to practice your networking skills.
I have thoroughly enjoyed all the HSMA functions and various events that have taken place over the last twelve months and always taken away new and relevant information.
It has been an honour to be part of the HSMA committee and attend the monthly meetings. For me it was interesting to see the formal agendas and minutes and in addition to this I also found that attending the meetings at other properties to be very advantageous to see what they had to offer the market place.
Going forward I hope to continue to be a strong support to the HSMA for I believe that it is very beneficial for anyone in the industry.
Finally there have been many highlights but one of the greatest aspects that I have encountered being part of HSMA was observing first hand the high level of commitment and dedication that individuals have toward their chosen profession and in general how wonder all the people are that area associated with our industry.”
Carolyn Coventry, Sales Coordinator, Stamford Plaza Melbourne
